Une citronnade maison, garantie sans acidité ! A non-tart home-made lemonade !

My friend Robin is in Paris, yeah !…Now this is a nice virtual friendship that has become a real one. We met “for real” last year in NYC for a memorable picnic in Central Park. Last week, she did make the trip to Paris. Meanwhile, we both have created our blogs. So, last tuesday I took her to my fav' part of Paris : the Aligre Market and its neighborhood. She wanted to see all the places I had mentionned on my blog in a specific post about “my off the beaten path Paris”. I am sure you are... [Lire la suite]

Tarte à la Grenade, aux Pommes et au Pralin/Pomegranate, Apple and Praline powder Tart

From time to time, I enjoy finding myself back into time and leaf through my very first cookbooks, the ones that made me want to cook with all the loving care I could. Among my “cooking bibles”, one of my favourite is “la cuisine de Julie” by Julie Andrieu. I discovered her thanks to her TV show on cable TV, some 10 years ago. So, it was possible to be good-looking and thin and a good cook ? All French women at that time, including me, had the impossible dream of looking like her !! Last week, I stumbled upon her... [Lire la suite]

La restauration des façades et des rotondes du Printemps Haussmann, The façade and rotundas renovation at Printemps Haussmann

Have you heard about « Les Journées du Patrimoine » ? Every year in mid-september, state properties all over France are opened to the public for the weekend (and for free of course). Created in 1984 by our then Minister of Culture, it has been such a successful event that many European countries have “copied” us ever since. This year, I wanted to visit something that could be fun for my daughters (4 and 11) and, most importantly, with no lines (count on a 2 hrs line to visit the most popular buildings like the Sénat or the... Tartelettes Tatin aux tomates confites et au basilic, Tatin slowly-roasted-Tomato Tartlets with Basil

OK, I will spare your valuable time and will not evoke again the history of the Tatin Sisters (well, if you’re really dying to know more about them, click here). But did you know the origins of the word “tomato” ? One has to travel far from Europe to find its source, actually in the South American continent, the aztec word “tomatl” meaning “pulpy fruit”.I am lucky enough to have found, in my smalll local market, a gardener crazy about tomatoes, and thanks to him, I am totally guaranteed to eat luscious "pulpy... Mini-Crumbles de prunes (reine-claude), individual green plum crumbles

Yes, yes, I know I have been a very bad girl, the worst foodblogger ever, I left you for more than a month !! I can’t believe I did that, but I have to admit that a blog detox is necessary from time to time, specially when one is having a great time in the USA and Mexico (more details in a few days). I have been back for more than a week, but can you believe that I had to wash and iron more than 250 pounds of clothes ??? Ah, California is heaven (or hell ?) for serial shoppers like my husband and I (and for the first...
