Quand l'Asie rencontre l'Italie...when Asia meets Italy...

Panna Cotta Cardamome et MangueCardamome and Mango Panna Cotta When I prepare an exotic meal, I always wonder which dessert I will propose to my guests. Because, let's speak frankly, sweet dishes are not what Asians do best. Just by rumbling through any asian cookbook, you quick realize that the dessert section is, in most cases, almost non-existent. The easiest way is to go for an exotic fruits salad, but this time I did not feel in the mood for it. I wanted something more classy, but still "light" : after 50... [Lire la suite]

Que faire avec un Mango Curd ? What to do with Mango curd ?

Yes,  lemon curd is not the only curd one can make; almost any fruit can do the trick.I have seen plenty of Passionfruit, Kiwi, Lime, Orange, and even Raspberry Curds on foodblogs from all over the world ! As for me, I have opted for Mango as I had two very "ripe" mangoes on my kitchen counter, starring at me every morning like they were begging "what are you waiting for ?". One morning, I decided that "enough was enough" and within 15 minutes, they were transformed into this scrumptious Mango... [Lire la suite]

Pour finir un repas exotique en beauté…A pleasant ending to an exotic meal…

Tarte à la Mangue et Citronnelle, pâte à la Noix de CocoMango and Lemongrass Tart with Coconut pastry Remember all the good things I said about american food magazines ? Now I have recently found out that the Australians, too, have amazing “foodzines” ! A friend of mine (thank you Sandra) recently brought to me a selection of gourmet magazines, and “delicious.” (the Australian version, not the British one) was among them. Rarely have I literally devoured a magazine like this ! A pure beauty : articles on such ... [Lire la suite]

2 recettes « fraîcheur » autour de la Fraise ! 2 refreshing strawberry based recipes !

Sorry for being away from my blog these last days. Actually, I have 20 people for dinner tonight and I haven't left my kitchen for days !! This recipe has been posted a year ago but is totally appropriate today since the mango-strawberry tartare will be one of tonight's desserts ! See you soon for a "new" recipe, I promise ! Désolée de cette absence un peu plus longue que d'habitude : je reçois 20 personnes ce soir et je ne quitte plus ma... [Lire la suite]

Did you know that "Tatin" was a family name ?

Yes, Tatin is not the french translation of “caramelized” even if it has become synonimous with it over the years. Actually, Tatin is a family name from the Center of France, a region called La Motte Beuvron. Two sisters, Stéphanie and Caroline Tatin were running a hotel/restaurant  there in the early 19th century. During hunting season, the restaurant was very busy  and one day, Stéphanie, known for being very clumsy, dropped  an apple tart on the floor ! The apples were facing the floor and the pastry was on... [Lire la suite]
